Establish a state of historic environment monitoring strategy to monitor the integrity and condition of heritage places. See Heritage New Zealand’s ‘State of the Environment Reporting and Monitoring’ for guidance on undertaking heritage monitoring.

Plan effectiveness monitoring for historic heritage should also be undertaken prior to major plan changes.
