District Plans - Cross-boundary issues
A good territorial authority and regional council relationship is essential, particularly in large metropolitan areas like Auckland. For instance, district/city councils in Greater Auckland send representatives to Regional Land Transport meetings. The Mayoral Forum provides another outlet for regional matters to be discussed and addressed. Infrastructure Auckland funds transport and stormwater projects in the Auckland region and has a regional rather than territorial perspective. In addition, the advent of the Auckland Regional Transport Authority means that there is an agency with a specific mandate to consider transport matters in Auckland.
